The continued existence of technology is no doubt a non-argumentative line up. Technology has come to stay, and not only are we equipped with the ability to send and receive information in a digital format; we are also facing erroneous ways it has affected our lives drastically.
It has been observed that more and more parents bemoan the fact that they’re not able to retrieve their IPad or laptop from there young child who is busy surfing the web, watching videos or playing game on the device.
The more time this young people spend engrossed in video games, watching funny cat comedy videos on YouTube and talking to friends online, the less time they spend on other valuable things.
According to research, children and teens can perform around seven tasks, such as checking emails, texting on social networking while watching television. Although it does teach them to multi-task, it also has a negative impact on their ability to focus on their academics, which is the most important area they need to focus on as teenagers.
One of the negative effects of technology can be linked to the effect it has on sleeping habits. We can get sucked up into online activities that keep us up late and the constant stream of information can make it difficult to turn off our brains.
The exposure to sexual contents is rapidly taking place at this technology period. Before the internet, the only chance a child had of being exposed to pornography was if their dad didn’t hide his play boy magazine well enough. Nowadays, it’s very easy for a child to just type the word PORNOGRAPHY on the internet and get enough videos as much as he/she wants.
Likewise, there is no way a lady would have taken a nude picture of herself and hand it to a guy before the advent of cell phones. It’s now easy for a lady to snap a quick boob and text it to her boyfriend.
The use of headphones and ear buds has caused the death of many people overtime. Many have lost their hearing overtime and likewise, through the straining of the eyes looking at computer and devices screen, many have had cause to need glasses much earlier in life.
As children continue to grow, they tend to receive their norms from things they are revealed to on social Medias. Things such as Alcohol and Drug use which are painted as “COOL THINGS” on social Medias and television. This has caused more children and teens to take part in these unholy activities.
Children are using more technology now than they have ever used in the past. All of the negative effects that social media and television is having on adults are lesser when it comes to children minds. There is no way to know what long effect technology will have on our children because this is the first generation to have unlimited access but parent should learn to guide their children with more diligence and show them the good examples to follow.
